A recent study titled “Prevalence and Risk of Behavioral Symptoms among Patients with Insomnia and Alzheimer’s Disease: A Retrospective Database Analysis” has unveiled a significant link between diagnosed insomnia and a higher prevalence of behavioral symptoms in patients with Alzheimer’s Disease (AD).

Led by Dr. Farid Chekani, a PhD who is affiliated with the Center for Observational and Real-World Evidence (CORE) at Merck & Co., the research team conducted a retrospective cohort analysis involving over 7,800 patients. The findings revealed that individuals with insomnia were significantly more likely to develop behavioral symptoms compared to those without the sleep disorder.
