Graduated from FMRP-USP (1992), Valdes Roberto Bolella specialized in Internal Medicine (1993), Infectious Diseases (1995) and completed his doctorate in Clinical Medicine at FMRP-USP (2000). He is an associate professor at the Division of Infectious and Tropical Diseases of the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP).

Bollela works in the field of medical education, with an emphasis on curriculum design and assessment, student assessment and medical internship. He also researches topics in the area of ​​Medicine, with an emphasis on Infectious and Tropical Diseases, working mainly with drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) and non-tuberculous mycobacteria, AIDS, molecular diagnosis of infections and M. tuberculosis resistance.

The doctor is a specialist in Hospital Administration (2010). He was the general manager of the outpatient clinics of the Hospital das Clínicas, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto-USP, between 2007 and 2011 and municipal health counselor of the city of Ribeirão Preto from 2005 to 2012.

Occupation area

Bollela is a fellow at the Faimer Institute (Foundation for Advancement of Medical Education and Reseach) of Philadelphia – USA (2006-2008) and a visiting professor at the same Institute since 2008. He is co-founder of the Faimer-Brasil Institute of Education for the Health Professions and won the 2013 Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award within its own unit (FMRP-USP) and the University of São Paulo (USP).

Since November 2017, Bollela has been a member of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Tuberculosis (INCT-TB) of CNPq, submitted to INCT 16/2014. And since 2017 he has also coordinated the Faculty Development Center for Education (CDDE), at FMRP-USP.

Bollela is the author of the books: Bridging the gaps: Internato baseado em competências; Educação Baseada na Comunidade: aprendendo com a experiência Brasileira (2012); and Adesão: o presente e o futuro na luta para o controle do HIV/Aids.
